Meet The Coaches

Jules Colina
Head Coach, U13 Nationals Coach
4th season with Legacy. She is Co-Director of Optimum Beach Juniors and Head Coach at Cambridge Christian. She has 12 years of coaching experience and 21 years of playing experience. She was an OH for Barry University with a Bachelor's in exercise science. Some fun facts about Coach Jules is she is a lover of Jesus, mommy of 2, still competes in women's open/pro beach events, and was a competitive gymnast for 11 years.

Frankie Taylor
Head Coach, U16 & 14 Nationals Coach
This is her 3rd year at Legacy and her 6th year coaching. She has been playing volleyball since the 4th grade and continues to play beach volleyball here in Tampa. She played D1 volleyball for 44 years as a OH/DS. In addition to volleyball, she also played basketball and softball. She has her Undergraduate Degree in Health Science and Masters in Social Work. She currently is a therapist in Apollo Beach specializing in athletes and teenagers. Coach Frankie and her fiancée recently launched a volleyball recruiting company this year.

Bailea Mitchell
Assistant Coach, U16
Bailea is from Jacksonville, Arkansas. Bailea was a 4 year varsity player at her high school in Arkansas. During that time, she won All-State Award for volleyball and softball. She also received All-Conference for volleyball junior and senior year. Bailea then went on to college at University of Central Arkansas. She is currently enrolled at USF for Sports Management and Marketing.
Bailea has assisted her high school volleyball and softball team in 2015. She has been here at Legacy for three season as an assistant coach. She has coached our Monday night Fundamentals Skills Class. She will be assisting with Coach Frankie this season for U16.

Hannah Skendiezel
Assistant Coach
Coach Hannah was born in Layton, UT. But grew up moving all over the U.S., went to high school in Tampa and recently moved back a year and a half ago.
Coach Hannah graduated from Felician University (in Lodi, NJ) in 2020 with a bachelors in Psychology. Then moved back to Tampa.
This is her first year officially coaching. She started playing volleyball in 7th grade, and was starting varsity all four years of high school as a middle and won all western conference.
Coach Hannah loves the gym/working out, volleyball, traveling and trying new food, and finding the best adventures.

Wendy Alfar
Head Coach, 12 National
Coach Wendy was born in Huntington Beach, California. Family relocated to Las Vegas, NV in middle school where she graduated high school.
Coach Wendy has her associates of Science in Human Services, bachelor of Arts in Sociology, and MS in Sports Management.
She previously worked as the Director of Operations and Athletic Director for a Charter School in Las Vegas. Her role was to run the operational system, providing mental health services, all clubs/extra curricular activities, and event planning.
Coach Wendy has coached both soccer and volleyball for over 7 years for middle school, high school and club volleyball.

Tom Schuler
U14 Head Coach
Coach Tom has been a high school varsity boys and girls coach for 19 seasons in Ohio and Maryland.
He has been a club coach ages 15-18 at the American, National, and Open Levels in Ohio and Maryland for 15 seasons.
He also has been an assistant coach at the Collegiate level in Ohio for 3 season.
This will be Coach Toms first year coaching at Legacy! He will be coaching the high school club prep and then will be a head coach for one of our club teams.

Savanna Pearson
Fundamental/Club Prep Coach
Savanna or Sav is born and raised from Winchester, Virginia. She moved to Tampa right after graduating from James Madison University in May 2021.
Savanna played 4 years on her varsity team at Millbrook High School. She was the solo captain her senior year and was an outside hitter. 7th-9th grade she was on a travel team (Apple Valley) and played as an outside hitter. 10th-12th grade she played for Blue Ridge Volleyball Association and was the captain every year.
From high school, she was a club player at James Madison University. She was on the executive board junior and senior year and was also the captain for both years.
Savanna has coached private lessons at BRVA for 2 years. She has also done group lessons at Horizon Edge in Harrisonburg, VA. This is her first year here at Legacy and currently coaching our Monday night fundamental class and elementary club prep.
Coaching philosophy --> A positive attitude, coachability, and work ethic can go a long way. Stay focused and be willing to put in the work!

Miranda Sierra
Club Admin, Assistant Coach
Miranda is from Tampa, Florida She has her Bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Bachelor's degree in Theology. Made the Dean's list in 2017. Graduated valedictorian of my high school class.
Started coaching volleyball in 2014 right before she turned 15. Coached volleyball at JV and Varsity level for 13 years in addition to AAU for Legacy for 2 seasons. Currently coaching Girls and Boys Varsity Volleyball at SLAM Tampa. She’s also coached jv and varsity basketball, varsity flag football, and children's soccer.
Miranda began playing volleyball at 9 years old on the middle school team. Played varsity from 7th grade- her senior year full rotation. Captain of her high school volleyball team for 3 years. MVP her junior and senior year. Most Points Scored her junior and senior year. College Volleyball at Trinity College of Florida Outside Hitter.
Short Overview of Coaching Philosophy - To help instill a passion in kids for volleyball and help them achieve their volleyball goals through hard work, good sportsmanship, respect, and personal growth practice by practice.
Sports have been my passion all my life. I love volleyball, basketball, hockey, baseball, soccer, etc.

Meghan Thornhill
Assistant Coach
Coach Megan is from London, England. She moved to the US when she was eight years old! She lived in Loudoun County Virginia once she moved to America.
Coach Megan graduated from Virginia Tech in 2021 with a
Communications and Business Management Degree. After graduation she moved to Tampa, FL to work for Pepsi!
Coach Megan played 2 years on my JV high school team at John Champe and then 2 years of Varsity. She started as a Defensive Specialist and then moved into the Libero position once she started her freshman year. She started playing Travel/Club volleyball in 8th grade all the way through 11 th grade. She played for No Panic Volleyball as a DS/Libero.
She started coaching middle school volleyball when she was a sophomore in high school. She also coached a rec league in Blacksburg, VA while at college.
Coach Megan's coaching philosophy is you play how you practice. It is so important to always practice with intention so you can work towards progress with every rep.
Coach Megan loves going to the beach, walking Bayshore,
reading, and playing volleyball!

Kelsey Rankin
Assistant Coach, 13 Nationals Team
This is her 1st year with Legacy. She is from Omaha, NE. Kelsey Graduated with a bachelors in Kinesiology. She was a setter in college and was also head coach at a top ten club in Kansas City for 3 years. Kelsey has played indoor for 15 years!

Linda Comier
Girls South Tampa Head Coach
Coach Linda is from Lexington, Massachusetts. She has been coaching for 14 years, ages 8 to 18, at Performance Volleyball, Club Steel and Legacy Volleyball, Ruskin Christian Varsity High School Coach for 2 years, Christopher Rey High School Varsity Coach for 1 year, Varsity Volleyball Coach & JV Volleyball Coach at St John’s School present.
She loves to go running, she has a twin sister, and one of 7 kids.
